Dave Simpson
I was born in 1966 in Nakuru, Kenya, into a family who had been farming in the Solai Valley since 1912. In 1972 my family moved to South Africa where I was educated, finishing with a Mechanical Engineering Diploma. I returned to Kenya in 1990 to pursue my true passions, camping and travel. In the years which followed I worked for various safari operators and led safaris from Kenya to Zimbabwe and safaris around Lake Victoria, including Northern Tanzania and the Mountain Gorillas in Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. My other love is photography and I am always willing to exchange ideas with guests and offer any advice where appropriate to help guests get the most out of their cameras. My wife Jayne and I live 30 km from Nairobi and run our business from home. During our free time we take any opportunity go on safari privately, using a roof tent and a simple kitchen in the back of the car. I am a Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association (KPSGA) Gold level guide and an award-winning photographer.
Working in the safari industry has been a challenging and rewarding career. I have seen many amazing sights and met some fascinating people, many of whom I am still in touch with.
